Nuclear-armed North Korea fired off multiple ballistic missiles from its east coast on Thursday, Japan's Defense Ministry said, including one that nearly landed within the country¡¯s exclusive economic zone.

The ministry said the North had launched multiple ballistic missiles from its northeast coast between 8 a.m. and 9:20 a.m., with one traveling about 800 kilometers and hitting a maximum altitude of 100 km before falling into waters of the Sea of Japan, outside Japan¡¯s exclusive economic zone.

A map released by the ministry showed that the missile had landed just outside the EEZ, which extends 200 nautical miles (370 km) from its coast.
