Toward the end of Atarashii Gakko!¡¯s set at this year¡¯s Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona, group member Suzuka, playing off the excitement of the crowd, jumped off stage and ran into the barricade holding attendees back.
¡°Barcelona! Primavera!¡± she shouts as those around her bopped along to the beat of ¡°Nainainai.¡± Someone holds out a hat, which she snagged and wore. She then refused to leave the stage and, in what seemed like an homage to James Brown, she was covered with a cape before breaking free and continuing to rap. She left the stage eventually.
¡°When we perform abroad, we always make sure to have fun,¡± Suzuka tells The Japan Times over a video call from a Spanish hotel room days before the set. ¡°We also recognize we have a big chance, we have the chance to introduce foreign fans to 911±¬ÁÏÍø culture. And deliver energy to them.¡±
